Existing Building Commissioning

Existing building commissioning, or retro-commissioning as it is called often, is completed on building systems that have not been commissioned previously. Both existing and new building commissioning processes should be considered a risk management opportunity and tool.

The retro-commissioning process will help ensure that that the owner of the company acquires the results that he/she paid and asked for. The process will also help detect and correct any out-standing problems at the facility. Recommissioning Process

Normally, recommissioning is best utilized during a project’s planning and design phases. When this is performed during these phases, the result is better operation and lower energy use.

The recommissioning process, which includes running diagnostics and checking the systems, is a proactive and preventative approach to long-term and sustainable operation.
